Camp Luther - Three Lakes, WI

Camp Luther is a camp built by its people. Literally! There isn’t one building, activity or area of camp that has come to be without the help of volunteers. Without their service, we would not have the beautiful camp we have today.

Today, volunteers are still vital to our efforts at Camp Luther. That volunteerism becomes an even greater blessing when those involved take the time to seek funding for their project from their local Thrivent Financial for Lutherans chapter. Through Thrivent’s Care in Communities Program, you can help provide financial assistance to Camp Luther for the many important projects that need to be completed each year.

Please consider seeking funds from your Thrivent Chapter. Keep in mind that the members of the Camp Luther staff can help fill your group. Below is a short explanation of how you can apply for funding of a project. Thank you for partnering with us to support and improve this special place.

1. Form a Service Team. Gather six people from six different Thrivent Financial households to form a Service Team. This is easier than you think. Start with your own congregation where there are likely to be many other families who own a Thrivent product. A bulletin announcement or short announcement at your church will help identify these individuals. Keep in mind, you need six Thrivent households, but others are also welcome to assist with the project.

2. Contact Camp Luther about a project. Camp Luther is currently seeking funds to assist with construction and remodeling of the villages. Other project ideas are listed on the Camp Luther website Needs List. Please contact Woody at Camp Luther before applying for Thrivent funds. Email: woody@campluther.com or call 877-264-CAMP.

3. Apply for funding from your local Thrivent Chapter. Your local Thrivent Financial Chapter Board must approve the project before the project takes place. This may take some time so get your requests submitted as soon as possible. Most chapter boards meet monthly. They will have application forms for you to fill out and may ask for the names of the individuals who will participate in the project and the estimated volunteer hours involved. If you need help contacting your local Thrivent Chapter, please contact Camp Luther for assistance.

4. Complete the project. Contact Camp Luther to schedule a time to complete your project. Our Camp Luther staff will be there to help you get organized and work on your project. Lunch, supper or overnight stays can be provided by camp as needed.

5. Submit the follow-up paperwork. After your project is completed, you will have forms and information to submit back to Thrivent. Be sure to track your volunteer hours (beginning with your initial work in promoting the project), and get your paperwork back to Thrivent in a timely manner.
