at Camp Luther." |
Introduction
If you value the ministry of Camp Luther, consider remembering camp in your estate plan.
We have chosen to identify these special supporters as the “Next Summer Club”. Through their gracious and wise planning, they are helping to ensure that there always is a “next summer” at Camp Luther.
Planned giving, or charitable gift planning, is a way for individuals to provide financial support to an organization during their lifetime and even beyond. You may also recognize significant tax benefit depending upon your plan.
How about you? Is this special camp remembered in your charitable giving or estate plan? If so, we want to hear from you. We would like to thank you and acknowledge your generosity.
If you haven’t yet done an estate plan or would still like to include Camp Luther in your estate, we can help! The North Wisconsin District is blessed with our own Gift Planning Counselor, Mr. Ron Smith. He can help you designate a gift to camp, plus explain how your generosity can also reduce your tax burden. If you would like to discuss a planned gift to Camp Luther, please contact Woody at the Camp Luther office at 877-264-CAMP (2267).
Membership
Members of the "Next Summer" Club are those individuals who are remembering Camp Luther with a Planned Gift.
Recognition
Future or deferred gifts
Future gifts are those in which the donor retains an interest and the charitable use by Camp Luther is deferred to some future time. Common future gifts include:
Bequests (a gift through your will or estate plan)
Deferred pledge agreement
Pay on death" accounts
IRA or qualified pension plans Personal residence or farm (retained life estate)
Charitable remainder trusts
Charitable gift annuities
The representatives in the Development Office can assist you in several ways with making a deferred gift. We can provide you with the appropriate wording for a bequest or deferred pledge agreement and help you explore the benefits of setting up a charitable trust or annuity.
Bequests
The most common method of deferred charitable giving is that of a bequest, i.e., a gift through one's will. Cash, securities, real property or personal property can be given to Camp Luther to support its mission.
Bequests can be for general purposes, or they may be designated for some specific area of the camp, e.g., endowment, camperships, capital purposes, or another area the donor prefers. Care should be taken to include in the wording of the bequest the purpose for which it is intended.
An Unrestricted Bequest
An unrestricted bequest may be used by Camp Luther for any purpose within its mission. These bequests are especially useful in that they provide support to the camp's greatest need, or may be held for future use.
An Endowment Bequest
An endowment bequest establishes a permanent fund, e.g., a memorial campership, with the income from the fund being available to meet either the general needs of the camp or specific needs of a designated fund.
A Bequest for a Specific Purpose
This type of bequest provides Camp Luther with funds for a purpose in which the donor has a specific interest. This could be a new staff position, a building, or any other purpose which the donor and camp leadership feel will be useful and meaningful. In this case, both the initial principal and any income earned from the asset may be used for the donor's stated purpose. |
